Anniversary!
Soo yesterday was me and Calvin's 1year anniversary! It's hard to believe that it's already come and gone, time seems to fly by so quickly when you're having such a great time. I wish the day could have lasted forever, because it was so nice, although the weather was really crappy. despite the on going downpour of rain, we managed to have a great day. We started our day off going to church, then headed down to the Market for lunch at Blue Cactus, which was really good and apparently a pretty popular lunch time venue (sorry no pictures). Then we came back to his place, where he gave me my present=) All i can say is WOW! i was so totally speechless, it was by far the nicest, sweetest gift that anyone has ever given to me. When he told me it took him a year to make, i obviously thought he was joking, but he was serious. since day 1 Calvin has always been taking random pictures of me when i make a stupid/silly faces, and he put them all together in a collage style, printed it out and framed it in an 11x14" black frame. On the bottom it said "No matter what face you make, i'll always love you just the same." I took one look at it and I admit, some tears were shed. I definetly did not expect this, i was shocked, speechless is more like it.
We headed back to my place so i could give him his gift. which was a cd, where the songs were in chronological order to our relationship over the past year, and it came along with a self deesigned cd insert titled "The Story of Us", where inside a wrote something about each song, and what it meant to us.
then we went for dinner at Giovanni's Italian Restaurant. it was a little pricey, but worth it for a special occassion. we started the meal off with some drinks, a Pina Colada for me and a white russian for Calvin (we would've had wine, but i dont like it hehe), then we moved on to the appetizers, where we deecided to have calamari (soo yummy!!). and for the main course Calvin and i both had pasta, i had a veal pasta and calvin had his crazy seafood pasta, with mussels, shrimp, scallop, and lobster! yeah i definetly DID NOT try any of that! i overheard that the also offered Bailey's Cheesecake for deesert! EEK!!! sigh but i was waaaaay to full to add that to my tummy! abooo. oh well, we'll just have to go for deesert one night.

life
it's funny how life works sometimes, kinda like game of poker, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes you just gotta play with the cards your dealt. even if you've got 5 cards in your hand that can't get you anything, you just gotta make the best of it. just trade-in whichever cards you don't think you'll need and see if you'll get better ones. but you've gotta remember that you only have a limited number of "trade-ins", once you use all those up, you either fold and give up or give the other players a run for their money. you try to get them to fold and if you lose, hey at least you tried and maybe you even learned a few things.
life is just the same, you can trade in things that you might not like; your friends, school, job, boyfriend/girlfriend, even things about yourself or your family, but after awhile, you're just gonna have to accept what you've gotten for yourself, or you can just fold and give up altogether....
and of course it's the "BIG APPLE" lol. looks kinda ghetto eh? hehe
they even had lamas, ok i admit i was kinda freaked out about them myself, i thought it was gonna eat me! lol
Calvin was starting to get a little antsy cuz this rabbit was getting a little too close for comfort! lol
they had some wild animals there, kinda like a small petting zoo. yeah i dunno, calvin took this pic! there was a sign that said to be careful cuz the rabbits are wild and will bite you! but they look soo cute! lol
they actually make the pies right on-site! it smells soooo good when you walk inside. and the pies are sooo heavy so you know they've got lots of apples inside! pricing isn't too bad, $10 for one.

here's a pic of my wall FINALLY! it doesn't look as good as my blueprint does because i had to leave out a whole other row of pictures. it would have been to low and right below it is my bed already so no can do. so basically i bought these foam bricks and stuck pictures to them to add some depth and of course it's divided into sections: "FRIENDS, BABIES AND FAMILY"
back in Ottawa
wel i'm back in Ottawa now, from my nice trip home back to Toronto. had a GREAT weekend, so nice to get away from school and the stress and just spend some quality time with family. totally surprised my mom when i showed up at the restaurant and she absolutely loved the quilt/tapestry! i'm soo happy cuz i spent soo much time on it!
went out to eat waaaay too much, i think i gained like 5 pounds! i was barely home. thursday was the big dinner (have pics from that later), friday tj and fred bought my mom Raptors tickets so we went to watch that, (Raptors vs. Sonics) it was actually a pretty close game, so it was exciting, and my mom really enjoyed cuz it was her first time watching a b-ball game. then of course after game, gotta go eat, so we went for some Pho, saturday had all-you-can-eat japanese MMMMMM sooo yummy! and sunday had japanese again, but thank goodness NOT all you can eat! phew!

As much as i'd like to take credit for this, i didn't write it =( but it's still really sweet!!

Can't wait to go home in 4 days YEAH! going home this weekend to surprise my mommy for her birthday (i know i'm just the greatest daughter! lol) it's her 50th, so i wanted to get her something really special, but obviously i couldn't find anyhting for her. although while i was looking online, i found this quilt/tapestry kind of thing, where i could upload 3 photos to the company and they'd print it onto a heart shaped quilt, but i thought, that looks easy enuff, i think i can make it myself. so yeah wendy's been working ALLL weekend, since wednesday to get this finished, and i must say i'm quite proud of myself, considering i'm totally winging this! although i did get a lot of help from calvin lol. i'll post pics once it's all done.
oh yeah ANNNND calvin is actually coming to this surprise dinner for my mommy because my DAD invited him I KNOW craaazy! so we'll be renting a car to go home, very excited, i hope my mom likes it!
oh right school.....*nervous laugh* yeah i've been kinda neglecting that...should prolly get back on that...hmmm i do have 2 essays due....interesting thought lol. i just have no time for school! lol PLUS i've got my 1 year anniversary coming up (28th) gotta start planning for that! (anyone got any ideas?!?), i'm sorry but school is just gonna have to wait! =)
on strike
the lack of sleep and crappy weather is finally catching up with me, i'm getting sick. so today i went on strike, i did absolutely NO WORK today, went to 1/2 classes, napped for an hour, came home, rented "Raising Helen", finally worked on my masterpiece wall (post pics later) and now writing this =)
had quite the stressful weekend: stayed up till 5am on friday night working on my introduction for my essay, came back saturday afternoon to work on the rest of it and found out that it didn't get saved so i lost it! not very impressed, had a little meltdown then re-wrote it. i managed to finish the 4 page draft which was due for today's class last night around 1am.
but after tonight it's back to essay writing still got 2 more to go for this month. so sad...it never ends.
got some bad news from my sister: she won't be coming home for Christmas....*sigh* *sniff* *tear* so sad, don't get to see my darling little Charisse. I won't be able to celebrate her FIRST CHRISTMAS with her. plus that means my sister won't be there for my 21st b-day.
well that's it for meeh!
oh yeah besides the fact that it's friggin SNOWING here! ok it wasn't a lot but it was still SNOWING! shish gimme a break it's only NOVEMBER! grrrr
well it's not the real thing, but maybe it'll be your first long distance shot brought to you all the way from the east coast of Canada, our lovely capital OTTAWA hehe. there's one for you and one for me CHEERS! a toast to AUDREY! yaaaay! lol

swamped
Haven't posted anything in a while, been absoutely swamped with school work. i just never imagined the work load increasing so much from 2nd to 3rd year. As soon as i finish one assignment, i don't even have time to take a breath, i have to jump right into the next one.
I just finished a group assignment on the 28th, hopefully that goes well, get the mark tomorrow.
Had my 2nd quiz/test (30 mins for 6-7 pages), didn't have enuff time to answer the last 2 pages, so an automatic deduction of 15mrks out of 50. oh well, what can ya do right?
Have a book review due tomorrow and a midterm YAY! thank goodness i was able to finish the review over the weekend (so no halloween partying for wendy, i know A SHOCK! lol)
Have a 5 page draft of my essay due monday (8th) and the final copy due the 17th
And of course being an English Major gotta have another essay due the 26th.
Finally another group assignment due the 30th.
I'm just praying that God helps me through this month....
oh yeah....got my pyschology midterm mark....nothing else to say...*sigh*
i hope everyone is handling their workload and midterms better than i am! =)
on an up note i was able to get out and do some dancing on thursday night with Calvin and Kriss. I don't think i've had that much fun dancing to 80's music. Kriss and I are gonna have to rent "13 going on 30" again to learn the dance to "Thriller" hahaha good times good times. although i think our version was pretty damn good! hehe
